The climate targets of the Fortune 500

Several Fortune 500 companies have released their targets. The Fortune Global 500 is a ranking of the world’s 500 largest companies.

In 2019, this influential group employed 70 million people and generated revenues of over $33 trillion.

According to Fortune, “Fifty-eight percent of Fortune 500 CEOs said in a recent Fortune survey that they have a plan to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner.

Since 2011, the number of S&P 500 companies publishing sustainability reports increased from 20% in 2011, to 90% in 2019.

A few examples include Procter & Gamble, HP, Salesforce, ASOS, and Nespresso.

1.  Procter & Gamble –

Since 2010, Procter & Gamble has reduced its absolute emissions across global operations by 52%.

 

2. ASOS –

ASOS announced that as part of its Carbon 2020 strategy, it has reduced its emissions every year since 2015 and cut emissions intensity by 30% in this time—the equivalent of avoiding 110,000 metric tons of carbon
